Cleansing for Clarity
I’ve been on a cleanse for almost a week now. It’s now day 5, and the last day of a three-day juice-only fast. Thank God. I really want a frickin’ steak. Just kidding. (Not really).
Actually, the purpose of doing this cleanse was to regain mental clarity. As far as detoxes go, this seemed relatively mild compared to some of the others I’ve done. I thought I was going to be a LOT hungrier that I actually was. Heck, I even went into this by having a MASSIVE cheeseburger - the Quad from Choppers, a favorite burger dive of mine. (Don’t let the names fool you. For some reason the Benny actually has four quarter-pound patties, and the Quad has five. Life is good.) I should take a picture of this thing, if I ever get it again - the only reason I got it this time was that I figured I’d better get my meat fix in before I did this fast.
I’m actually pretty impressed. I’ve never managed to complete a full fast before, so yay! And it really feels like I could keep on going, if I wanted to. It’s a great feeling. I’m looking forward to the finish line though. Tomorrow and Saturday I’ll be eating fruits and raw veggies before resuming cooked food next week.
I am pretty impressed with how clearer I feel mentally. I’ve noticed my focus and concentration improving, and feel more in the flow. I became very aware tonight while writing an email to a friend and suddenly noticed that I had just effortlessly put into words a concise statement about my purpose that I’d left open-ended for some time now.
I suppose the next step will be a colon cleanse. ![]()
